Autumn Sale a Hit
Truro Whiteface held another successful Autumn sale on-property at ‘Truro’,Bellata, interfaced with Auctions Plus. Although out of the regular season in the North West, the sale was well supported throughout Eastern Australia.
Scott and Pip Hann and family offered 24 bulls with majority under 20 months. Displaying thickness and carcass, the sale bulls were phenotypically correct offering genetics that were new to the breed, this providing breeders with the opportunity to explore different blood lines. The bulls sold have positive calving data, milk and carcass figures with their IMF and EMA figures also being impressive, this being a constant and evolving focus of the Truro stud.
Bulls were sold far and wide to return and new cattle breeders, sold from Taroom, Queensland, down to Victoria and Southern New South Wales. Local cattle breeders were well represented, as well as young progressive studs. Online bidding was very active on Auctions Plus, accounting for a third of purchases.
The top price bull, lot 17 Truro ‘Stonishing S165, was sold for $22,000 to return buyer Ian Bjorkstein, Wandong Herefords, Yeoval. There was spirited bidding against an online bidder on this lot due to the bull’s combination of phenotype and performance.
We were thrilled that the Bacon family purchased lot 13, Truro Shootout S155, utilising Auctions Plus’s online facilities, for $18,000 for use in their stud, Ownaview at Warwick.
The sale averaged $8,941 and had 83% clearance. Overall the commercial breeders strongly supported the sale along with various studs. Stud breeders struggled to keep up with the commercial breeders.
We thank all those who took the time to bid, attend or view our sale online and send us well wishes. We also thank and express our appreciation to private agents for their support, including Scott Hamilton, Narrabri and Russell Smyth, Bingara.
Agents for the sale were Elders Gunnedah and Rob Martin, North West Real Estate & Livestock, who we thank very much for their involvement.
We are extremely pleased with our second Autumn bull sale and look forward to their upcoming Spring sale on August 28, 2023, where 40 high performing young sires will be offered.
